Week 03

Day 11 (03rd November 2014)

Week 3 of internship. Everything's fine so far. We started the morning by removing the old cameras in the auditorium with brand new ones. It took everyone some time before figuring out how to replace the camera. We had to shorten part of a screw by sawing it off in the workshop. This was done to enable it to fit in the new cameras. We also had to enlarge the screw hold of the holder, by drilling. After which, we went on to testing the camera with the controller in the control room, to see if it was working perfectly. As of today, all 3 old cameras have been successfully replaced and attached with the new cameras. We have not tested the other 2 new cameras, as it was already getting late.

Day 12 (04th November 2014)

For today's task, we wired the remaining 2 newly fixed camera in the control room, and got it to work perfectly. We then went on to help lay some cables in the false ceilings, which was a pretty dusty sight when the false ceiling was removed. Getting a first time experience working on a scaffold was pretty scary but fun at the same time.

Day 13 (05th November 2014)

Today was pretty relaxing. We had some free time in the morning, and decided to practice the audio mixer, and the live cams. After which, we went on to continue laying and pulling the cables hidden in the false ceilings. Up on the scaffold once again, it wasn't as scary as before anymore.

Day 14 (06th November 2014)

Day 14 of my internship. We are kind of getting the hang of everything here, compared to when we first started 2 weeks ago, without any knowledge or experience of laying cables, coiling them, creating ethernet cables, Bnc cables, and so much more. These were skills which we sometimes use in our daily lives as we grow. So without further ado, here's what we did today! We created some bnc cables and there were surprising lots of careless mistakes done here and there. However, it was fun, because only through these mistakes, we learn and grow as a young adult. We also attached some other additional connectors onto the panel on the outer side of the trailer, creating bnc cables on the inner side for it as well. Lastly, I learnt to assemble a NE8FYD etherCon connector. It was pretty tricky, as I had to get the right colours of the wires, into the right positions, not to mention, the wires are really tiny for my fat fingers. Nevertheless, we managed to complete everything that was required to be done today and ended the day. Wonder what's in for us tomorrow.

Day 15 (07th November 2014)

It's the last day of the week. We started today by helping Mr Phil build some sets, trimming the cloth for the sets. Then we had to fix up some benches. The only problem was, the bench was of poor workmanship. There were broken screw, dented wood and also a broken chair leg. We exchanged parts between the one with a dented piece and the one with the broken chair leg, and managed to construct another chair. In total, we had 2 out of 3 chairs fixed, as the last one had to be returned due to broken parts. Well, that's pretty much everything we did for this week. Heard that next week will be a busy one, with greenscreen shoots to be done, and subtitling. Look forward to next week.
