Day 22 (17th November 2014)
Week 5 of internship. This week is once again going to be a really busy one. Today, we started work in the noon, as we had to get our social security card done in the morning. When we got back to studio, I had to resize the subtitles as well as rephrase some of the subtitles for the thanksgiving video. After which, I went on to help out on coiling the unwanted cables from the control room. Reason being was that we are sort of shifting the entire studio to the trailer, hence some cables, were no longer needed, and had to be coiled and kept in storage.
Day 23 (18th November 2014)
Today, we spent the entire day working on the trailer. I was tasked to drill a brand new rack in place, to hold the video cassette recorder. However, there were some problems faced with the bolts and screws, but were solved together with the help of Mr Harry and Mr Phil. The next task for me was to terminate 12 new BNC cables, which were then connected to the panels on the outside of the trailer and in the box. It was pretty challenging as I had to repeat the same process of terminating one end of the BNC cables, for a total of 12 times. Well, for now, I'm certainly sure I'm very clear and familiar with the steps of terminating a BNC cable.
Day 24 (19th November 2014)
Today marks one month of our internship! We started the day by fixing up the scaffolding and laying some cable in the false ceiling. After which, we went to finalize the greenscreen setup, as there was a greenscreen shoot for the Thanksgiving video (English). As there were still some time left before the greenscreen shoot, we went down to lay a few more cables. Then, we proceeded with the greenscreen shoot.
Day 25 (20th November 2014)
For today's tasks, we first started viewing the edit for the yesterday's greenscreen shoot, before moving on to building a new bench. After which, I went on to help fix the box containing the audio cable and fibre optic cable. I then went on the scaffold to lay some other cables above the false ceiling, and pushing the cables through a hole in the ceiling to the machine room. As it was getting late, we went to SF Cutters, to attend a night event. It was pretty enriching at some point of the presentations, for example, the Red Giant Universe.
Day 26 (21st November 2014)
Today's a really fun day. We started the morning preparing and doing final checks for the greenscreen for the Cantonese thanksgiving message. After that was done, we went on to shoot it. I was one of the camera operators. Moving on, I helped Ed in the editing process as it was in Cantonese, and Ed wasn't familiar with the language. As there was nothing much for me to do, I went down to the Sanctuary to help out, connecting the fibre optic wires. I was then tasked to terminate several BNC cables, in the machine room, and in the box outside the trailer. What happened next was one of my favourite tasks. I was tasked to draw the picture of a house using a reference image provided, onto a large canvas, together with the help of my new friend, Peter. Peter is really a great artist, and I really learnt lots of drawing tips from him along the way. As it was getting late, I then proceeded to the Cafetorium to help out with what was left to do.
Day 27 (22nd November 2014)
The day for the official Cantonese Thanksgiving celebration is finally here. This means that, things are getting more fun, challenging, and busy. Well, to start off the day, I worked together with Peter, to finish up one of the canvas drawing in the morning. Next, we went on to the cafetorium to prepare for the event in the evening. We went through the rehearsals, and I was one of the camera operators for the night event. It was a long, exhausting and busy day, yet a fruitful one.
Day 28 (23rd November 2014)
Today was the day for English Thanksgiving Celebration. To start of the day, we went to the trailer for the first time for the Sunday Service. I was given a chance to work with the new sound mixer in the trailer, with Pei Ying, and Emily. It was pretty fun but different at the same time. I was once again one of the camera operators for the event. After the event, together with the crew, we packed up the area, and was given a day off tomorrow.
