Week 8
Day 1 (10/12/2014)
Today I started out by creating some titles for the upcoming Christmas school events. I used After Effects to create the titles. After lunch, I ran 4 audio cables from the distribution amplifier to each of the CCUs for the program sound. It was at this time that my cheap multitool from Costco jammed the second time. The first time it jammed was on Saturday and Harry had to dismantle and painstakingly reassemble the tool. Today I had to do the same and managed to get the tool back in order. But, I had enough of cheap tools failing on me and I decided to get a proper tool instead.

Day 2 (10/12/2014)
Today we had to shoot 2 school Christmas events. But before that, I soldered 11 audio cables to XLR connectors. It was quite easy compared to the monster that is the Radio Corporation of America.

After that, we started with the first event where I was the Engineer. It was not that difficult even though I had to keep watch on the iris of 3 manual cameras and 3 remote cameras. The only issue is that I was only able to monitor 1 camera at a time as the monitor that showed the multiview of all cameras is glossy and not an IPS monitor, which means the colour shifts at different view angles.

The second event, I was the sound mixer. As had done this role on Sunday, It wasn't that difficult with the only problems being the sound clipping when the kids performing shouted unexpectedly.

Day 3 (11/12/2014)
Today we calibrated the monitors in the trailer and set up the Christmas lights in the trailer. We were unable to calibrate the monitors at first as the colour bars that was used is unfamiliar to me. I knew how to calibrate analog SD monitors but digital HD is new to me and Harry taught me the proper procedure of doing it. After that, we stapled the Christmas light to the trailer wall and taped plastic sheets to the openings in the trailer so that water would not leak in during the coming storm. The next day would be a day off as the storm will be very intense and we would be unable to work.

Day 4 (12/12/2014)
Huge Storm.

Day 5 (13/12/2014)
We started off the day by setting up the studio for a portrait shoot next week. We moved the obsolete equipment that is lying on the floor aside and hung a white background. We then set up a fresnel as a backlight and 2 soft boxes as the key and fill.

After lunch, we bought several packs of sand bags to weigh down the trailer when we drive it out next week. We then set up some audio equipment in the Roman's Cafe and helped Phil to draw some outlines on the large painting that he is working on.

At night, we watched the rehearsal for the Cantonese ChristmaSing to prepare for the event the next day.

Also for today, the Leatherman Wave that I ordered a few days ago just arrived and I am pleased with my new tool.

Day 6 (13/12/2014)
Today we had 2 identical Cantonese ChristmaSing Events. I was a camera operator for both events.

Day 7 (14/12/2014)
Today as usual, we shot the Cantonese and English Sunday service. For the Cantonese service, I was the Engineer and for the English service, I was a camera operator. After the service, we helped to set up some equipment in the cafetorium for the English ChristmaSing rehearsal. After that, we shot some footage of the rehearsal for the behind the scenes videos.
