Day 06 (27th October 2014)
It's a start of a new week! We've been tasked to prepare for a shoot the following day. So to start off, we went to the studio to set up the cameras, c stands, lights, and mics. We then did a test shoot. (That's me standing in as a temporary talent!) After which, we reviewed the test shots, and tried keying out the green in Adobe After Effects, which was pretty successful. We are set for tomorrow's shoot!
As we had some time left, we were taught of some studio lights and theatre lights by Mr Harry, as well as the use of gobos.
Day 07 (28th October 2014)
Before we start the day off with a shoot we prepared for yesterday, we went to Scottish Rite Masonic Center's auditorium. Specific measurements were taken around and within the stage. We also went up to the top to learn how to fix a screen on both sides of the stage. It was pretty high up, and was rather scary. We will be setting up the screen at the stage in a few days time. We also saw the various stage lights used.
After having lunch, we went back to the studio to do a final check on the set up, before executing the actual shoot, featuring Reverend Fong. It was a rather quick shoot. After all was done, we tried keying out the green and the results were great.
Day 08 (29th October 2014)
Back in the trailer! We started removing one of the monitors and replaced it with another. Following that, we laid some cables (HDMI, BNC, Ethernet) around the monitor areas, TriCaster, and the videohub. After which, we spent some time setting up a new desktop, and fixing some difficulties faced with the TriCaster. Well, everything went well, and we left the trailer and ended the day!
Day 09 (30th October 2014)
Fourth day of week two. Tomorrow's Harvestfest 2014! There's lots of preparations to be done for the day. We started off by fixing a scaffolding, and went lay some cables from the trailer to the hall, through a room. This involved lifting the false ceilings and drillings to secure the loose cables. After all was done, we dismantled the scaffolding and placed it back to its rightful place, before ending the day. Tomorrow's going to be a busy day, hope it would be a fun experience!
Day 10 (31st October 2014)
It's Harvestfest 2014! Still pretty much stuffs to do and set up before the official event. Well, we started today by working on 2 live shows. I was on camera 5 which was locked on a tripod. However, after a while, I was tasked to go on the wireless camera, Sony Ex1. It was quite fun to be moving around the hall, and behind the stage, though it was exhausting. The biggest challenge for me was to maintain my shot, before it was switched to another shot by the vision mixer. Reason being was that I tend to shake a lot before it was switched to another camera, and also due to an old injury on my wrists. So the happiest part of today's show? Well, the children smile. It's probably one of the best medicine to any sorrow, or tiredness, because when they smile, you know you had made someone happy, and it would be a happy day for them.
So after the show, we went on to setting up and preparing the cafe for the games and photoshoots. We placed C stands, studio lights, flags, and led lights near the photo taking area, with a Harvestfest background helped put up by the wonderful people. I then sat on the bench as a stand in for the photo test shots. The results were pretty good after some minor tweaking around the set. We're set for the night! After setting up the cafe area, we went on to the auditorium, where we were taught to handle the sound controls, for the audio mixing, which was used for the introductory speech before the children enter the wonderful night of Harvestfest 2014! That's all for this week, lets hope next week will be another fulfilling week!
